the last summer recap
I'm finally getting caught up with all the pictures I took over the summer that I have neglected to organize.
This recap is mostly about the State Fair. We love the fair. We look forward to it for months and months and then we go, eat ourselves silly, and leave. it's awesome.
It is now a tradition for Dave to wear his "genie" shirt to the fair every year.

summer recap 1
It is now October. Did you know that? Because it seemed to just sneak up on me and I was startled to realize we have entered the tenth month of the year. wowee wow.
the problem is, I still have pictures from July (and the rest of the summer) that I need to add to our online chronicles. You see, I'm horrible at organizing pictures, so this blog is as close to a photo album that we will probably ever have. Sad but true. But I realized that I'll never have time to devote entire posts to each and every fun thing we did this summer, so a recap is all you'll get. But I'll do a few. Otherwise it would be one looooooooooooooong recap. And that might get boring.
I'll start with a very special wedding. Dave's sister Anna. I'll just say one thing and then it will be picture time. Anna looked like what every bride wants to look like. Seriously, she was stunning.
I don't have pictures from the ceremony, but you can find them here. The photographer was amazing.
Moving on to...not sure I have the right words to adequately describe what I'm about to show you.
Dave was involved in a volleyball tournament at work, and was nominated to be the coach. So, naturally he wanted to look the part.
That's my man.
And, we'll finish up with pictures of Olive since she has been absent from the ol' blog for a while.
I love this picture. I'm not sure why since you cant even see my cousin's head. I just love it.

the hand of God
I'm back to tell you about just how evident God's hand has been in this whole "starting a non-profit" endeavor.
The concept for Seeds For Change started at a coffee shop on a napkin. It was mapped out by my dad and his friend Joe as an idea. They wanted to see the at-risk youth of St. Louis Park have a place to go after school to get homework help, to play basketball, to be kids.
This idea has evolved and grown and become a real thing! We firmly believe that this was really God's idea from the beginning. He has blessed every step along the way.
An integral part of the process has been the involvement of Diem Design. Perry and his team at Diem have been incredibly generous with their time and resources. They created a beautiful website (which I'll be sharing with you soon!), invites for our fundraiser, hand outs, letter head, you name it! It's amazing how you so quickly identify with a logo. They created this for us:
God has provided in so many other ways as well. Joe has a contact that will be preforming at our fundraiser: Sheila Ray Charles, daughter of the late Ray Charles. Yep. I know. Cool right??
Also - the space and dinner for the fundraiser were DONATED to us. What?? Yes. Seriously.
It has been truly amazing to see God at work in and through this new organization that He obviously wants in existence. Please keep us in your prayers as we learn more about what it means to reach at-risk youth.

Dave and I have been busy little beavers with a few things. One of them being a brand-spanking new non-profit that we are helping to start. It's really the brain child of my dad and a friend of his, but Dave is on the board and I've been doing some of the administrative work to get it off the ground.
It's called Seeds for Change and we are SUPER excited about it!!
The organization is going to encompass a few different things, but the main project is an after school program for at-risk youth.
Here's a little blurb from our hand out
"Seeds For Change is a non-profit organization committed to help change the lives of youth by helping them face difficult life situations. Many kids find themselves on the streets after school, and end up engaging in destructive behavior, crime, and other negative activities. Seeds For Change seeks to change the negative direction of these youth’s lives and provides support in the areas of education, social and interpersonal relationships, character development, and preparation for life after high school."
Sounds cool right??
Our big fundraiser will be November 11th and tickets are just $30. There will be a silent auction and Sheila Raye Charles (daughter of Ray Charles) will be preforming. Let me know if you are interested in coming!

My love for ice cream runs deep. I blame my parents for this. Growing up we frequented little ice cream shops in the area and with each visit my love for ice cream grew.
So when I heard about Pumphouse Creamery, it took every ounce of self control not to hop in the car and drive there that very minute. I was probably at work anyway.
Our friend Lee was in town from California. Perfect excuse for some ice cream, no? Not that I need an excuse.
There are so many reasons why I love Pumphouse. Here are just a few:
