Joe vs. the Volcano Party

For Dave's 30th (!!!) birthday we threw a Joe Versus the Volcano Party! It happens to be Dave's favorite movie of all time so we thought it would be fun to show it in our backyard.

Kellie constructed a super sweet volcano on the back of the house!

The volcano provided a great backdrop for photo ops!

The screen was set up, the twinkle lights were on and the tiki torches were lit.
It was time to start the movie!

The day started out grey and rainy, but things cleared up just in time and it turned out to be a perfect night. There's something about an outdoor movie that is so romantic and magical.
Happy 30th Birthday Dave!

*Many of these pics were taken by our friend Jeff who also provided the projector and just general awesomeness. Thanks for being so great, Jeff!

A post from Dave

The ball of yarn floated down from the sky
through the cover of darkness they hoped to float by.

Crawling on all fours the cats slinked to the houses
planting their fur on all the trousers and blouses.

Felines wait and plot to decide just how
to infilitrate earth it needed to happen right meow.

The kittens had one job on the tour down from space
eliminate mankind by laser zapping their face.

Family Photos

Here are some more from our family photo shoot. I LOVE how they turned out!

Thanks again, Amanda! They turned out so lovely.

Family Photo Preview

While our friends Caleb and Amanda were here, Amanda took some family photos of us and they turned out AMAZING! It's late, and I don't have time to put them all up tonight, but I wanted to give you a little teaser. More to come!

our far away friends

Our good friends Caleb and Amanda came to visit last week all the way from Australia!! They stayed with us for over a week, which sounds like a long time, but really the time just flew by. Here are some highlights of their stay.

Dairy Queen

Max LOVED Caleb!

Swimming at Shady Oak Beach

Lunch at Fogo. YUM!

We have been wanting to try the tasting menu at Travail for a long time. This seemed like a great time! It was AMAZING!

I had to be a bit brave. Yes, that is beef tartare on that plate. I actually liked it!

And their desserts are always amazing.

In honor of the olympics (which we watched a lot of while they were here) Amanda and Dave had a speed walking competition.

C & A: We miss you guys so much already! Thanks for coming and spending so much time with us. We are already looking forward to next year!
